Finally the long awaited moment is there: today, 15/05/2013, we received an envelope from Campirama containing the paperwork for our insurance agent, DIV (The Belgian vehicle registration service), etc.
This is great relief because hereby the delivery of our motorhome reaches the final stage.
Step 1: on Tuesday 21/05/2013: we had a meeting with our insurance agent. He took the paperwork with him because he was going to find out which would be the next steps regarding the DIV, customs, etc.
Step 2: Wednesday 22/05/2013: telcon insurance agent: we need to go to the DIV by ourself because we need to show our passport? The same evening the papers were returned to us. The necessary tax stickers were attached on the pink registration form.
Step 3: Friday 23/05/2013: we went to the DIV: at 6h20 we arrived and we were third in line. At 8h30 the doors opened and we entered the building by at least 25 persons behind us. At 9h10 we were back outside again. Our new license plate number is 1-FCL-805 and it should be delivered to us within 2 days by mail.
Step 4: on Monday 27/05/2013 we received our licenseplate. We made an appointment with Emmanuel Demuynck at Campirama to meet each other on Tuesday 28/05/2013 at 15h00 in Kortrijk to handover the license plate, papers, gas cans and to set a date for the final delivery of the motorhome.
In the meantime we also received our insurance papers by mail.
Step 5: op Tuesday 28/05/2013 we went to Campirama to hand over the paperwork, to have a look at our motorhome and to make the final arrangements regarding the final delivery.
We noticed that instead of the ordered fullsized single seat next to entrance door, the standard folding bench was present. Mr. E. Demuynck was startled by this event and assured us that the fullsized single seat was effectivelly present on the orderform. We decided to keep the folding bench because it provides a lot more space when entering the motorhome and this extra space will be appreciated by our dog.
Since a number of options still need to be installed by Campirama (among others solarpanels, extra battery, safetylocks, rearview camera, etc.) we decided to not use a the separate rearview camera, TomTom GPS and radio but to go for a all-in-one device. We chose a ZENEC ZE-NC620D in combination with a Camos CM42 rearview camera.
The final delivery date was set to 11/06/2013 at 16h00.
Before leaving we showed our discontent for the late delivery of the motorhome by Hymer. Initially it was promised to be delivered by mid March while the actually delivery will be in June. Mr. E. Demuynck agreed and promised us to talk to Hymer about this.
The countdown to Tuesday 11/06/2013 could commence
Step 6: 06/06/2013: we received a SMS message from Mr. E. Demuynck with good news: all backordered parts (the radio and the rearview camera) had arrived and the delivery of the motorhome on Tuesday 11/06/2013 will continue as planned. The bad news was that the person in charge of the complaint department at Hymer was on holiday until Monday 10/06/2013. So our complaint regarding the late delivery will remain unanswered until then. We are curious on how this will turn out…
Step 7: 11/06/2013: delivery day! We were warmly received at Campirama and we received a very detailed explanation concerning our motorhome and the different parts and procedures. Afterwards it was time for the administrative processing and yes: we received a fearly interesting extra discount from Hymer for the delay of the delivery. This was the cherry on our cake, our day could not go wrong, not even when the weather gods found it necessary to drop some heavy rain over our new acquisition. Finall, again, we were in possession of a new motorhome. What a lovely feeling of freedom! The planning of our first trip could commence…
One more thing: the operational weight (inclusive driver, water, gas, diesel and all extra options): only: 2.880Kg. !!
